The material of this base layer consists of 23% merino wool, which is incorporated into longitudinal channels made of polyamide and elastane. This means that all moisture or sweat is stored in the wool, which has two main advantages: – The sweat does not come into direct contact with the skin. This creates a real feeling of dryness. – The moisture stored in the wool is warmed by the body and thus forms a barrier against the cold of the outside environment. This premium wool can absorb up to 20% of its weight in moisture.

The EverdryAero material is a fabric with double stretch lengthwise and crosswise, into which a network of soluble threads is woven, which dissolve when the fabric is dyed, revealing a grid of ventilation openings (an innovation from the Payen manufacturer). With a maximum stretch of 65%, a weight of just 90 g/m² and an apparent modulus of elasticity of 0.057 N/%, this exclusive material was developed with the aim of creating a perfect balance between elastic support, breathability and drying speed.

The high, close-fitting collar of this base layer ensures that all body heat is retained. It acts like the collar of a sleeping bag and limits the tunnel effect and thus heat loss: the warm air remains in the base layer. At the same time, we have made the back area covered by the sleeping bag lighter so that heat loss across the upper body is evenly distributed.

This strategic material division makes it possible to use a material with high thermal performance in areas with high heat loss and a material that wicks away sweat in areas that require high breathability. In this base layer, this technology enables a sensible combination of our Everdry Merino material for thermal insulation and our Everdry Aero material for breathability.

This flat seam, which is primarily used in underwear, reduces friction because the seam values do not create any bulges. In combination with a foam yarn, a connection is created that is completely invisible to the runner, making it the perfect companion for leggings or base layers.

The back closure with snaps at the bottom of the shirt ensures maximum ventilation under the backpack.
